UK issued heat health alert as country is gripped by heatwave

The Met Office have issued the UK a heat health alert as warm weather continues to grip the country.

The alert has been issued as very warm or hot conditions are expected to continue with fine and sunny weather, and light winds over the next few days.

The heat is expected to last until Wednesday, with temperatures over 25C for all of Merseyside.

The Met Office say: “Light airflow and high humidity will make night times feel very muggy.

“Some fresher conditions look likely to spread to some northeastern areas on Tuesday for a time”.

Stay out of the sun. Keep your home as cool as possible – shading windows and shutting them during the day may help. Open them when it is cooler at night.

Keep drinking fluids. If there’s anybody you know, for example an older person living on their own, who might be at special risk, make sure they know what to do.
