Met Office issue Wirral & Liverpool severe weather warning for strong winds as 50 mph gales expected

The Met Office has today issued Wirral and Liverpool warnings for strong winds until 10pm tonight.

Strong to gale force west to northwesterly winds will affect many areas of Merseyside today.

Gusts of 40 to 50 mph are likely with isolated gusts close to 60 mph possible over coasts, hills and locally inland where heavy showers occur.

Forecasters expect that the worst of the winds will be at coastal locations across Merseyside.

With the strong winds means the weather will feel much cooler, temperatures won’t climb much above 14C.

The Met Office say: “Expect some localised transport disruption with some trees perhaps uprooted. Large waves and spray will affect some coasts.

“The strongest winds will affect Wales, western and southern England initially before extending across the Midlands towards Lincolnshire and East Anglia this afternoon.

“Winds then moderating from the southwest this evening”.
