However, the warm weather is expected to come to a dramatic end as the build up in humidity and energy will create thunderstorms across the country.

On Saturday parts of Merseyside and the north could expect torrential rain, thunder and lightning, the Met Office have warned.

Heavy thundery showers have the potential to bring localised flooding, day forecasters, hail and frequent lightning is also possible.

Chief Meteorologist Paul Gundersen said: “The whole of the UK will experience some very warm and sunny weather on Thursday and Friday as high pressure draws continental air from the south.

“During Saturday, showers and thunderstorms will spread from the south west with potential for a few intense downpours.

“This will be followed by cooler conditions on Sunday and Monday, although still with some fine weather in places.

“However, further thundery rain may affect parts of the south later”.

The Met Office forecast for the next few days reads: “Saturday will start very warm and dry but scattered thunderstorms will spread north-eastwards.

“Sunday and Monday will be less warm. Sunny spells are likely but perhaps the odd shower”.
