WATCH: Huge waves crash down on New Brighton seafront and closes nearby roads

High winds that at times reached over 60mph battered New Brighton today and with the combination of a high tide, caused over topping waves.

Footage shows huge waves crashing over the sea wall which also closed nearby costal roads.

Winds are expected to die down as the evening goes on and many of you sent in your video and pictures of the windy conditions.

Temperatures are expected to feel close to -1C at times in the wind and patches of ICE could also be a possiility as the region is on a weather warning.

The Met office say: “With clear skies and temperatures falling below freezing, icy conditions are likely too, however the showers should ease towards dawn”.
