Temperatures will improve over the weekend after a cold few days on Merseyside

After snow and ICE warnings with bitterly cold strong winds, the weather will improve slightly over the weekend.

Snow and hail hit the region during Thursday evening and caused slippery slushy conditions on the roads.

The m53 was gridlocked for a time and a car skidded off the road and crashed into railings in Wallasey.

But things should improve in time for the weekend, temperatures will still feel cold on Saturday with temps around 6C, but Sunday will see the milder weather as highs of 9C are expected, although it will still feel cold in any winds.

The Met Office say: “Outbreaks of rain and milder conditions moving east on Sunday, perhaps preceded by some snow in places, mainly over the hills. Cloudy and mild into next week”.
