New year weekend will see a drop in temperatures on Merseyside

The New Year is nearly upon us and it’s looking like 2017 will get off to a cold start across the UK and Merseyside.

Air from the Arctic will sink south and by New Years Day the chilly air will have gripped much of the UK.

New years eve will see temperatures into double figures, but by the first day of 2017 temperatures will be as low as 4c.

The Met Office say: “Saturday will start grey for many, with some patchy light rain and drizzle over the hills.

“It will be breezy and heavier rain will move into the north later. Maximum Temperature 10 °C.

“Rain clearing to the south overnight, with New Year’s Day then mostly dry and cold, with sunny spells. The maximum temperature will be 4C”.
