Nothern lights could be visible on Merseyside TONIGHT

The Northern lights (aurora) could be visible over parts of Mereyside TONIGHT as solar storm activity is on the increase.

Parts of Merseyside and the north of the UK have a chance of seeing the event over the next few nights if skies stay clear during nighttime.

The UK’s Met Office space weather forecast for today said: ‘Elevated solar winds are expected throughout the period, with G1-G2 minor to moderate geomagnetic storms forecast.’

The Met Office forecast says that Merseyside could get a chance of seeing the Nothern Lights in between cloud breaks.

The forecast reads: It will be a largely dry start to the night but the cloud will thicken into the early hours.

Some patchy rain and drizzle is likely towards dawn but it temperatures will be mild for the time of year.
