100mph storm is heading across the atlantic, but how will it affect the UK ?

Hurricane Gaston is a 100mph storm that is making its way across the Atlantic and is heading towards the UK.

The storm is expected to be in touching distance of the UK by Saturday and by the time it arrives it will be a weaker low pressure system still containing winds of 80mph.

However, forecasters say that the storm is not expected to directly the hit the UK, instead it’s expected to miss and travel way off the south west coast near Portugal.

The Met Office expect that the disruption from Hurricane Gaston will be minimal with wind speeds on Merseyside peaking at around 25mph on Saturday.
