After a stormy weekend that saw thunder and lightning light up the skies across the region, the weather will settle down this week.

Many of you didn’t sleep on Sunday morning as thunderstorms rolled across the night sky and the lightning lit up bedrooms across the region.

The Met Office on Saturday had issued severe weather warnings for heavy thundery rain and early Sunday morning heavy rain and thunder arrived.

But with meteorological summer ending this week, there will be a more settled theme to the weather, with a mix of sunny spells, cloud and some showers.

Bank Holiday Monday will be a dry and fine day, with some sunny spells.

Cloudy Tuesday, with some rain and drizzle over the hills.

Light rain at first Wednesday, then drier and turning brighter, but breezy too. Dry again Thursday, with sunny spells.

Friday and the weekend will see similar conditions with temperatures through the week averaging around 19C.
