The award of a £6,000 grant from the Coastal Revival Fund meant that New Brighton Coastal Community Team could re-light the lighthouse for the first time in 43 years.
100’s of people turned up on Saturday night to witness the lighthouse lighting up for the first time since 1973.
A samba band called Katumba entrained the crowds before the big switch on, then the crowds made their way onto New Brighton beach to get a up close view of the new solar panel powered LED lighting system installed in the lighthouse.
A few people we spoke to had turned up from as far as Manchester, Southport and Crosby to be a part of the event.
