Wirral Area Commander Chief Superintendent John Martin said before the event: “We’re calling on riders to enjoy themselves safely and responsibly during this year’s Wirral Egg Run.

“The majority of people taking part are there to raise money for a good causes and we’d just like to remind them to adhere to speed limits and make sure their driving is responsible on these busy roads.

“I’d also like to remind everyone that the roads are likely to be really busy on the day of the event and motorists may want to think about their route to help avoid any congestion.

Due to lack of funding in 2013 the egg run was cancelled, but ever since then thousands of bikers still take part in the ‘tribute’ run which still raises thousands of pounds for charities.
