After Storm Gertrude’s visit on Friday, Merseyside has now been warned to prepare for snow & ICE.

The Met Office have issued the region a yellow severe weather warning that will last from 6pm Saturday to 11am Sunday.

The latest forecast maps seem point to most of the snow falling inland, so theres more of a chance of Merseyside experiencing some sleet/hail showers.

However, the Met Office say that a few centimetres of snow could fall across the area at times on Saturday night through to Sunday morning.

Icy patches are could also form on untreated surfaces this evening and overnight onwards into Sunday morning.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Clear spells after dark will allow temperatures to widely fall below freezing in places leading to the risk of ice on untreated surfaces.

“Meanwhile, further snow showers are expected in western and, more especially, northern parts of this yellow warning area”.

The warnings come just after storm Gertude brought stormy conditions to the UK yesterday, this was the scene at West Kirby as one windsurfer was completely unphased by the stormy conditions.
