Forecasters say that the unsettled weather pattern will continue through the month, with further spells of strong winds and rain.
At the start of the New Year temperatures will be nearer to normal than what was witnessed through December, which turned out to be a record breaking month for warmth.
There’s some chances that drier milder interludes are possible towards the middle of January.
But it’s expected we will see more named storms throughout, especially towards the second half of the month.

Forecasters say that the unsettled theme will continue later in January, with frontal systems continuing to move in from the Atlantic bringing wet and windy weather at times.
Snow is likely to stay over the hills of the north of the UK and temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly above normal.
