Merseyside warned of heavy rain this weekend as weather warnings are issued for the region

Wind & rain on the way

An area of low pressure is expected to move eastwards across Merseyside on Saturday morning and into the afternoon, bringing heavy rain and some strong winds.

The Met Office warn that there is some potential for localised flooding, as well as some travel disruption, winds could also pick up to around 50mph at costal areas.

A forecaster at the Met Office said: “The low pressure system has the potential to produce 20 to 40 mm rainfall quite widely with gale force winds south of the low track.

“This development is still associated with uncertainty, especially regarding the track and timing of the low. The warning will be kept under review”.

The warning is in place from 8am – 8pm Saturday.
