5:45pm: Wirral coastguard issues warnings to wave dodgers:

“Team members deployed to the New Brighton/Egremont area in a response to concerns for the safety of members of the public wave dodging and taking photos in dangerous locations.

“As the second picture shows, waves can pick up and throw rocks over large distances and these are the same waves hitting members of the public.

“We ask that members of the public stay safe and try and stay away from these waves during this bad weather.

“If you see someone in trouble at the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard”
