The Jet streams easterly flow has been bringing a series of intense low pressure towards the UK over the last few days.

Storm Abigail tracked over the UK on Thursday into Friday, with winds of 80mph in the far north and winds of around 50mph on Merseyside.


Tempertures will feel chilly during mornings and the wet and windy theme will continue as more low pressure systems head towards the UK this week.

The new week will start bright but chilly on Monday with the chance of some sunny spells at times, but towards evening cloud will thicken bringing the chance of more heavy rain for the region.

Towards midweek there will be further outbreaks of rain, which could be heavy at times as Storm Barney arrives. There’s also a chance of some brighter spells at times

Temperatures are set to dip as we head towards the weekend as the Jet Stream will change position, allowing colder Arctic air from the North to feed in over the UK.

This means temperatures on Merseyside at the weekend could fall around the 7C mark, making it feel bitterly cold in the winds.

The weather at the the weekend is looking like it could be the coldest weather we’ve seen since the start of 2015.
