VIDEO: Watch dramatic footage of New Brighton being battered by Storm Abigail

Our cameraman & photographer Tom Munns captured this dramatic video of storm Abigail battering the New Brighton coastline on Friday, winds reached 50mph.

The storm closed schools and cut off power supplies in Scotland with gusts of up to 84 miles being recorded in the Outer Hebrides.

Storm Abigail is the first storm named by the Met Office this season.

While storm Abigail gets all the attention, Ex-Hurricane Kate, which will be a much weaker low pressure system by the time it arrives, will make its way towards the UK over the next few days.

Kate is forecast to track northeast across the Atlantic, passing to the northwest of the UK later this weekend bringing heavy rain.
