Yesterday the Met Office issued a weather warning for Merseyside as thick fog was expected across the region today.

Thick fog moved in overnight and by this morning the fog reduced visibility to less than 100m.

This meant Mersey Ferry services were suspended for a second time and flights were cancelled at Liverpool Airport this morning.

Those expecting to fly today are advised to check for updates directly with their airline before they travel.

According to the Met Office heavy fog is expected to slowly lift by the afternoon leaving the chance of some brighter spells.
