The fog was so thick on Merseyside this morning that flights could not land at Liverpool Airport and had to resort to circling above the area.

This meant a number of delays at the airport this morning, so check with your flight operator if you are travelling from Liverpool Airport.

The airport’s official Twitter account said: “A small number of our flights have been affected by the fog this morning though we don’t expect this to continue throughout the day”.
