The Met office has issued Merseyside a severe weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms from 3pm today – 11:50pm tonight.
Unstable air coming up from France will bring warm humid temperatures today, which may trigger thunderstorms and heavy rain.
Isolated thunderstorms may develop over the Midlands and parts of eastern England during Saturday afternoon which will move North during the evening.
Whilst Merseyside could completely miss these thunderstorms, if they do occur there’s a risk of localised surface water flooding, strong gusts, lightning and hail.
A chief forecaster at the Met Office said: ‘the situation remains finely balanced and this warning may be updated again through the day’.
Temperatures will get warmer on Sunday..
Although the weather warnings today, Sunday is expected to get very warm, with temps of up to 24C.
But don’t go putting away the rain coat just yet, our taste of summer will come to a very wet halt as more heavy rain is expected Sunday evening.
Forecasters are also suggesting that the rest of August could be a washout as ‘several more depressions are likely to run across western and northern Britain, with a further risk of strong winds and some heavy rain’.
The Met Office have said: “We are now confident that it is going to be unsettled with very heavy showers likely from Sunday.
“The heaviest rain will set in during the evening and it is remaining unsettled into next week.”
