High pressure is continuing to dominate the weather on Merseyside this week, which means glorious spells of sunshine and warm weather.
Wednesday is expected to reach over 20C on Merseyside and Thursday is expected to be the hottest day of the year with highs of over 22C, putting the cloudy Portuguese capital Lisbon in the shade.
Met Office forecaster Dan Williams said: “Warmer air from the Azores will see temperatures rise, with Thursday potentially in the ballpark of the hottest temperatures of the year.”

The warm, dry weather wont last until the weekend though, as theres a small chance of thundery showers on Saturday which could put a dampener on any weekend BBQ plans.
Forecast Dan Williams said: “Thundery showers look like arriving on Saturday morning, with the thundery risk continuing on Saturday.
“Thundery showers could see a lot of rain fall in a short time and could cause standing water on roads”.
ADVICE: With the warm weather and the time of year, this means high UV levels, so covering up and applying suncream is a must if you burn easily.
